UC Irvine women’s basketball team has added two home games against Long Beach State on Friday, Jan. 15 and Saturday, Jan. 16 with both games scheduled to tip off at 4 p.m. at the Bren Events Center.
The games this weekend will count as UCI’s Big West series with Long Beach State, UCI athletic officials said. The games scheduled for March 5 and 6, will remain on the two teams’ schedules, but if played, they will be considered non-conference games.
The Anteaters (5-5, 2-0) are coming off a split with UC Riverside in a non-conference series last weekend.
UCI lost to the Highlanders Friday, but captured a 62-60 win on Saturday. UCI, which led for most of the game, overcame a five-point deficit late in the game to win it. Jayde Cadee scored the game-tying three-pointer and Chloe Webb made the game-winning layup in the final seconds for the Anteaters.
Long Beach State enters the series 7-1 overall and 6-0 in the Big West after sweeping series against UC Riverside, Cal State Bakersfield and Cal State Fullerton.
Under Big West Conference rules, no fans are being allowed to attend the games due to the coronavirus pandemic.
