Three OC girls volleyball teams going for CIF state championships this weekend

The top California high school teams in each division, including Mater Dei, Cypress and Capo Valley Christian, will compete for state titles during the CIF State Girls Volleyball Championships Friday and Saturday on the campus of Santiago Canyon College in Orange.

This year’s event features five teams with previous state championship history, while
Academy of Our Lady of Peace (DIII), Clovis West (DII), Cypress (DII), Elsinore (DV),
Rocklin (Open), Sequoia (DIII), and Woodcreek (DI), are all making their first appearances.

It’s the 47th year of the state tournament, according to state officials.

Mater Dei is making its fourth appearance in the open division and looking for another
title after a 2023 victory.

Harvard-Westlake (5-0) returns to the Division I game after earning its fifth state title in
2021.

In Division IV, Immanuel (3-1) returns to the state championships for the second consecutive year after securing the Division V title last year, while Capistrano Valley Christian (2-0) returns to the finals for the first time after back-to-back wins in 1991-92.

In Division V, Hilmar (0-2) returns to the finals for the second straight year after appearing in the Division IV title match last year.

Division V: Hilmar (26-16) vs. Elsinore (17-17), 4 p.m.

Division I: Woodcreek (42-6) vs. Harvard-Westlake (27-8), 6:30 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 22:

Division II: Clovis West (31-13) vs. Cypress (24-10), 11 a.m.

Division III: Sequoia (25-15) vs. Academy of Our Lady of Peace (21-11), 1:30 p.m.

Division IV: Immanuel (26-16) vs. Capistrano Valley Christian (14-21-1), 4 p.m.

Open Division: Rocklin (37-4) vs. Mater Dei (34-5), 6:30 p.m.
