Tesoro boys basketball team defeats San Juan Hills 76-44 and Coach Garrett gets 300th career victory

Tesoro’s boys basketball team, which had already clinched the Sea View League title, defeated San Juan Hills 76-44 Monday night at Tesoro.

Noah Honetschlager scored 19 points, Tyler Broughton had 17 points, Triston Broughton 11 points and Kaden Garrett eight points for Tesoro (19-5, 8-0). The Titans are ranked No. 2 in this week’s CIF 2A poll.

Tesoro Coach Steve Garrett also celebrated his 300th career victory, all at Tesoro. Garrett, in his 17th varsity season, has a 63 percent winning mark and six league titles along with a CIF title in 2009 and three state championship appearances.

Tesoro also celebrated the 10-year anniversary of the 2009 Tesoro CIF championship team which defeated Ventura in the CIF 1A title game.
