Talented Tustin High infielder Tre Chatman signed with Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa and was honored by school officials in a ceremony this week.
“It is a  DIII (school) and he is super excited, loves the school and the community.” said his father, Charles Chatman, baseball coach at Tustin.
“Tre is a great student and a grinder, he has worked himself into a college baseball player and my wife and I are proud of his accomplishment.
“Cornell was able to see him play at the SR Fall Classic with his travel team the So Cal Birds and they where sold on his style … he’s a athletic, undersized middle infielder that plays like a little guy, fast and not afraid ….
“As a coach, I tell my guys that there is a place for every style of ball player if he knows who he is and plays only the way he can. Tre plays like a little guy and Cornell was looking for that kind of a player; he should do really well there. He’s a great example for all our little guys at Tustin and we are proud to have him represent the Tiller family. “
