Segerstrom High School’s baseball team, which finished 3-1 in the Ryan Lemmon Invitational, takes a few days off before resuming action next week, including a non-league game on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. vs. Anaheim at Angel Stadium.
Segerstrom (12-10, 6-0 in the Golden West League) also has a nonleague game at Los Alamitos Wednesday. The Jaguars are currently tied with Ocean View for the league lead.
There is no admission charge for Thursday’s game at the home of the Los Angeles Angels.
“We are very grateful to give our players the amazing experience of playing a game at Angel Stadium,” said Segerstrom Coach Erasmo Ramirez. “We want to thank the Los Angeles Angels and their head groundskeeper Barney Lopas for giving us this memorable opportunity.
“Our players will remember this for the rest of their lives.”

Segerstrom wrapped up the Ryan Lemmon 30-team invitational with a victory on Saturday and Ramirez hopes the Jaguars can continue their solid play.
“We’ve been playing good baseball,” he said. “Hopefully we can carry this momentum and continue to play with confidence these next few weeks. I believe every coach out there wants the same from their teams …. a roster full of good young men who give us a chance to compete for a league championship, as well as a chance to make a run in the CIF playoffs.”
The Jaguars are led by third baseman/pitcher Zander Bretza, a UNLV commit who is batting .406 with four home runs; catcher Reggie Demetre, who is batting .392 with 10 doubles and right handed pitcher Bruno Banuelos, who is 5-1 with a 1.05 ERA. His strikeout to walk ratio is 54-6, Ramirez said. Banuelos has also been a solid hitter for Segerstrom.
