The Saints (5-2, 2-0) were led by Patrick McMorris, who rushed for more than 200 yards. He had two touchdown runs of more than 60 yards and scored his final TD with two minutes into the third quarter.
“My experience (with the Saints) is great, I’m having fun out there,” said McMorris, who became eligible last week after transferring from Godinez. “It’s just a great learning experience after missing five games and just having my team behind me this whole way is great.”
His last touchdown put Santa Ana ahead 39-0 and there was a running clock after that.
Santa Ana’s last TD was scored by Jesus Cruz in the fourth quarter with a run inside the red zone.
“The team we’re most focused on out of anybody out there is the Santa Ana Saints and as long as we make sure they keep improving every week and they don’t beat us, we’re going to be all right,” said Coach Charlie TeGantvoort. “It’s a great team victory. I’m really proud of how our guys act and they have great character and great sportsmanship and I’m very proud of the entire team and the coaching staff.”
“I guess we just have to keep rolling from this and keep going and pushing hard and getting ready for Orange,” added quarterback Julian Gomez.
Calvary Chapel (0-7, 0-2) scored its only touchdown with less than a minute left when quarterback Joshua Koth scored on a bootleg run.
