Saddleback High School quarterback Andre Scott rolled up some big numbers on offense Friday night leading the Roadrunners to a 60-21 Zeta League victory over Savanna at Glover Stadium.
Scott, a senior, completed 20 of 31 passes for 518 yards and five touchdowns and also rushed for another touchdown, according to Coach Rob Thompson. Scott was named the Southern California high offensive player of the week by Cal-Hi Sports.
“Andre is having a great season,” Thompson said.
Scott has 22 touchdown passes with just one interception and 1,748 yards. He also has three rushing touchdowns and 203 yards rushing.
“I’m not sure if that’s a school record or not,” Thompson said. “This school has been around for a long time.
“He’s been a good leader this year for our team and things are looking good so far but each week is a new challenge, so we’ll see where we end up. So far, we are 6-2 and looking for another league championship and a good playoff seeding.”
Saddleback (2-0 in league) is tied with Magnolia (also 2-0) for first place. The Roadrunners have a bye this week before ending the regular season with games against Century and Magnolia.
Saddleback opened league play with a 52-14 victory over Godinez.
