—Portola blocked a possible game-winning field goal at the end of regulation.
—-Timmy Grettenberg scored his fourth TD of the night in the first overtime to put Portola ahead 35-28. King Drew scored a TD in the first OT, opted to go for two points on the conversion and was stopped short.
Bulldogs advance to regional final Saturday, Dec. 14 at Fullerton High School.
Portola High School’s football team, which captured the first CIF title in school history last week with a 31-14 victory over El Rancho in the Division 11 finals, opens the CIF Southern California Regionals Friday night facing Los Angeles City Section King Drew High School at Banning High School in Wilmington.
Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.

The Edison Chargers, who captured the CIF Division 3 title, will host Granite Hills Saturday at 7 p.m. at Huntington Beach High School in the 1-A bowl game. OC Sports Zone will also have full coverage and updates of that game.
The winner moves on to face the winner of the Northern California contest St. Ignatius and Central the following weekend.
