Portola, Mater Dei, Crean Lutheran, CdM and Sunny Hills boys basketball teams get wins

PORTOLA 62, SANTIAGO 58: The Bulldogs (9-5 overall) captured the non-league victory Saturday.

Makai Brown scored 13 points, Devin Daniel 12 points and Colin Huang seven points to lead Portola.

Santiago (12-3) was led by Paul Soriano, who scored 23 points, David Briseno who had 20 points and Aaron Gomez who scored 10 points.

MATER DEI 62, ST. AUGUSTINE 49: The Monarchs (23-0) broke open a close first half with a strong second half performance at the Mater Dei Extravaganza. Harrison Hornery scorted 21 points, grabbed 16 rebounds and had four assists to lead the Monarchs. Nick Davidson scored 16 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and had three assists and three steals.

Mater Dei plays Santa Margarita on Tuesday.

CREAN LUTHERAN 66, VALENCIA 64: The Saints won the Empire League game Saturday at Valencia. James Agany scored 16 points and had the game-winning basket with 35 seconds. Alex Davis scored 13 points and Jack Fairchild 11 points for Crean Lutheran.

Crean Lutheran (11-2, 8-0) has a one game lead over second place Cypress. The teams meet Monday at 6 p.m. at Crean Lutheran.

CORONA DEL MAR 41, CLAREMONT 40 (Overtime): The Sea Kings captured the non-league victory Saturday. Scott Truninger scored 15 points and Hudson Bond seven points to lead CdM.

SUNNY HILLS 46, NORWALK 39: The Lancers (6-19) were led by Dylan Lawson, who scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Johann Kwon had eight points.
