Portola’s first girls varsity basketball team is competing in the Pacific Coast League.
Portola’s girls basketball team, coached by Brian Barham, is 7-12 so far in its inaugural season of varsity basketball.
“This season has been a learning process for the girls Portola basketball team,” said Coach Brian Barham.
“It’s been a rough first varsity season for our squad. Three of our five starters are sophomores. Currently, we’re 7-12, having lost four games by one possession. However, we’re moving in the right direction for sure.”
Portola has been led by its backcourt of two sophomores Allyson Tabayoyong and Kyra Stewart, who Barham said “are doing the heavy lifting. Both are doing everything in their power to push this team forward.”
The coach added:
“We’re paying our dues to the basketball gods. Every day we’re learning our lessons the hard way. This difficult season is a priceless education. The future is bright at Portola.”
