Portola’s girls basketball team opened Pacific Coast League play Tuesday night, defeating Beckman 50-42 at Portola.
The Bulldogs (11-5, 1-0) were led by Moka Saiki, who scored 14 points and Allyson Tabayoyong and Maddy Noh who had 11 points each and Donia Maymoun, who had 10 points.
Beckman (10-6, 0-1) was led by Alyssa Braunstein and Kellie Yada, who each had eight points.
Woodbridge 46, Irvine 28: The Warriors won their Pacific Coast League opener. Erika Maggard scored 31 points and Ashley Cheng six points to lead the Warriors (10-7, 1-0).
University 47, Northwood 27: The Trojans (6-13, 1-0) were led by Claire Kawata, who had 19 points. University broke the game open by outscoring Northwood 13-4 in the third quarter. Aryn Press had 10 rebounds for University.
Crean Lutheran 61, Kennedy 55: The Saints (16-2, 1-0) were led by Taylor Feldman, who had 19 points in the Empire League opener. Shannon O’Malley, Trinity Cha and Daelyn Johnson scored 11 points each.
