It was another big night Friday for the Placentia Punishers Bronco 12-and-under all-stars at the zone championships in Moreno Valley.
Placentia rolled to its second straight win in the tournament, defeating Maui, Hawaii 13-2 in a game called after five innings.
The Punishers broke the game open with six runs in the third inning. Andrew Churney, Tyler Fritz, Jayden Stilabower and Caden Smith each had RBI in the inning.
Lead-off hitter Grady Klovstad was 3 for 3 with three runs scored and two RBI, Churney scored three runs and drove in a run, Fritz was 2 for 3 with five RBI and one run scored, Stilabower had two RBI and scored a run, Cole Grothues had an RBI, Smith had two hits and an RBI and Tristan Gerken and Jacob Wang scored two runs each for Placentia.
Churney pitched four innings for Placentia striking out five.
The Punishers will play again Saturday at 1:30 p.m. vs. the winner of the Rocklin vs. Simi Valley game.
