“This division is loaded with manny top level teams with nine teams being league champions,” said Western Coach Dan Davidson. “We drew Simi Valley, a very talented and well coached team.

“Tim Benkert is one of the most outstanding high school coaches in the game. Malik Hunt is an outstanding playmaker they have two outstanding running backs and run a two quarterback system lead by sophomore quarterback Travis Throckmorton. They play a multiple look defense that rallies to the ball well and will be an outstanding opponent. We are pleased to play in such a competitive division.”

Western, the Pac-4 League champion, wrapped up league play with a 77-6 victory over Godinez Friday night. The Pioneeers are 9-1 overall and were 3-0 atop the league.

Cassius Savage had three receiving touchdowns and a fumble recovery for a fourth touchdown for the Pioneers.

Quarterback Isiah Del Toro threw for five touchdowns. Danny Walters had an interception and a fumble recovery, both for touchdowns, Davidson said.
