The South all-stars did it again Saturday night, defeating the North 30-17 in the 62nd annual Orange County All-Star Classic at Newport Harbor. The game was sponsored by Costa Mesa United.
It was the seventh straight win for the South, which lead the series 33-26. There have been three ties.
Dana Hills quarterback Bo Kelly led the South throwing two touchdown passes and was named the offensive MVP. Muhammad Hassouneh (Cypress) was selected defensive MVP.

The South defense was also solid. Segerstrom’s Alijah Sadler had an interception and later in the quarter Kelly threw his first TD pass to Braden Pegan (San Juan Hills).
The North trimmed the margin to 7-3 on a field goal, then moved ahead 10-7 on a TD pass from quarterback Tobey Schmidt (Tustin) to Tomas Ramirez III (Cypress).
Kelly then connected with Pegan on a TD to put the South ahead 14-10 in the third quarter. Chase Barry (JSerra) kicked a field goal in the fourth quarter to give the South a 17-10 lead.
A.J. Perez of Huntington Beach later hit Broghan Daley (Dana Hills) on a TD pass to put the South ahead 23-10. The North’s Kaden Baptista scored from 5-yard line later in the game to cut the lead to 23-17. But the South clinched the win when Kenny Manassero (Mission Viejo) broke a big run for a TD to make it 30-17.
