The Jaguars rallied to defeat Garden Grove 24-13 Friday night at Garden Grove to earn a share of the Big Four League title and will find out Sunday their playoff opponent.

“Last night was exciting to see our guys play their hearts out,” said Segerstrom Coach Joseph Tagaloa. “They truly came together for a team victory.”
Tagaloa is not sure what division his team will wind up in. Under the new CIF playoff system, teams are placed in divisions and seeded based on this year’s schedule.
“I truly am not sure,” he said. “I have been following our ranking and even though we lost some tough games, our rank did not drop. It should be interesting to see where we land, but either way we are going to prepare to compete come Friday night.”
Segerstrom (4-6, 2-1) got a strong effort from its defense.
“Our defense and special teams led the charge last night creating turnovers and controlling the momentum,” Tagaloa said. “We had an interception by Erik Martinez, a fumble recovery return for a touchdown by Jalen Cervantes and later a forced fumble by Erik Martinez which was recovered by Sonny Naiuli.
“By the time we got into the fourth quarter, our offense put together a nine-minute drive capped off by Julian Diaz scoring to put us up by two scores.”
Tagaloa said he was excited for his players.
“They have dealt with adversity all year both on and off the field,” he said. “Our resilience is remarkable. So proud of their efforts and continual desire to get better and play for one another.”
