Marina High School’s football team, under first year coach Charlie TeGantvoort, will get to play for the Big Four League title Friday night vs. Segerstrom at Segerstrom.
Marina and Segerstrom are both 2-0 in league, tied for first place in the four-team league.
The Vikings defeated Katella 73-0 Saturday afternoon at Glover Stadium. A running clock was used in the third quarter.
“It was a great team win today as our Marina Vikings beat Katella to now be 2-0 and take another step toward a league championship,” TeGantvoort said Saturday.

The defense was led by Joshua Miller, who scored two defensive plays with “great play by the entire defense,” TeGantvoort said.
“I’m very proud of the entire team, especially to see how far they have grown as mature and tough young men on and off the field. We are now excited to be competing for a league championship on all three levels next week. What an amazing opportunity for the Marina Vikings to continue to improve and fight to succeed.”
The Vikings coach will be back in Santa Ana, where he coached at Santa Ana High School, to lead Marina against Segerstrom, which defeated Garden Grove 31-14 Thursday night. Coach Joseph Tagaloa’s Jaguars are 6-3 overall.
