Crean Lutheran High School’s girls basketball team clinched the outright Crestview League title with a 62-49 victory over Canyon Tuesday night at Canyon.

It’s the second straight league title for the Saints and first under Coach Kyle Rouse.

Micaela Hanning scored 16 points, Sydnee Norwood 12 points, Jane Hewitt 10 points, Elise Randolph eight points and Aubriana Salem six points to lead Crean Lutheran (22-5, 7-1).

“We finished the season strong with a full team effort. Foul trouble happened early with Micaela, Sydnee, and Elise, but our team stepped up with big games from Aubri, Emma (Goley) and Savannah Brawley,” Rouse said Wednesday.

“Our last league game was a solid culmination of our league play in that the contribution was across the board in the scorebook and in our intangibles. In August when we had our player meetings, one of their team goals for the season was to win a league title … we’re very proud of this group for the sacrifice they’ve made thus far this season. They know we’re not done yet, but it’s always great to succeed in your goals, especially in a tough league that we’re in.”

Crean Lutheran had a stellar first half.

“We started strong defensively and only allowed 15 points in the first half,” Rouse said. “The girls did great on the boards and in transition last night following our scout (report) pretty well also. Excited for what’s to come and grateful for a chance to keep playing in the playoffs. This is a special group.”

Crean Lutheran will find out its CIF playoff draw Saturday when the pairings are announced.
