Pacifica Christian, Yorba Linda, Villa Park and Northwood and Uni notch league victories

Pacifica Christian’s boys basketball team captured an 85-66 San Joaquin League victory over Orangewood Academy Tuesday night.

Judah Brown scored 26 points, Solomon Davis had 17 points and 12 rebounds, Riyaan Jiwani ad 11 points, Houston Mallette had 12 assists and 10 rebounds and Timmy Bahadoor had 10 points and five assists.

In other games:

Yorba Linda 77, Brea 46: Cory Knutson scored 14 points and Omair Memon added eight points to lead the Mustangs, who outscored Brea 23-10 in the final quarter of the North Hills League game. Yorba Linda is 14-9 overall and 2-1 in league play.

Villa Park 71, Esperanza 51: The Spartans (21-1, 3-0) were led in the Crestview League game by Julien Franklin with 20 points, Maceo Reddick with 14 points and Riley Schroeder with 10 points.

Northwood 55, Irvine 31: Seth Locke scored 16 points to lead the Timberwolves (11-1, 4-1) to a Pacific Coast League victory. Northwood is tied with Beckman, which lost to University, 74-64 Tuesday night.

University 74, Beckman 64: The Trojans (13-10, 2-3) knocked off Beckman (15-7, 4-1), which had been alone in first place in the league until Tuesday night. University led most of the game and outscored Beckman 19-14 in the fourth quarter to seal the victory. Beckman and Northwood are now tied for first place in the PCL.

Kody Uyesugi led the Trojans with 23 points and had five assists. Uyesugi also had five 3-pointers and now has 90 on the season. Brandon Liu scored 14 points and had seven rebounds and three blocked shots. Sam Aryan had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Will Stenta had 11 points, 11 rebounds and six assists.

Beckman standout Dylan Thoerner, still battling the affects of the flu, had 27 points and Chris Muller added 13 points.

“We took care of the basketball tonight and competed well on the boards,” said University Coach Mike Dinneen. “Kody Uyesugi had an excellent shooting night and ran our offense efficiently while Brandon Liu, Sam Aryan and Will Stenta all played well for us.”

University also defeated Woodbridge 77-73 Friday night. Uyesugi had 22 points and Liu 18 to lead the Trojans.
