Orange County high school baseball highlights and scores for Tuesday, April 23

FULLERTON 6, BUENA PARK 3: The Indians (18-8-1, 7-2) captured their third consecutive Freeway League title with a victory over Buena Park Tuesday. Miguel Vealesquez was 3 for 4 with two home runs, a double, three RBI and three runs scored; Malachi Meni was 2 for 4 with an RBI, Zach Fany was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and Eddie Advitia pitched seven innings to earn the win.

The teams play again Thursday at Buena Park.

NORTHWOOD 9, PORTOLA 0: The Timberwolves (18-5-1, 15-3-1) remained tied for first place in the Pacific Coast League with Beckman with the win Tuesday. Casey Euper pitched the first five innings, allowing no hits and striking out 12 for the Timberwolves. Andres Hernandez finished the game with two shutout innings, allowing one hit.

Jordan Kim was 2 or 4 with three RBI and a run scored, Paul Grossman was 2 for 3 with three RBI and Euper was 3 for 4 with two runs scored and an RBI to lead Northwood’s 13-hit attack.

Cooper Marinelli had the only hit for Portola (11-11-1, 8-11).

The teams play again Wednesday at Portola and Friday at Northwood to finish the series.

UNIVERSITY 8, WOODBRIDGE 4: Jameson LoBianco scattered nine hits and walked just two in an 8-4 complete game victory for visiting University. The Trojans (12-14, 8-11) moved into a three-way tie for fourth place in the Pacific Coast League with Irvine and Portola.

The heart of the University order provided virtually all of the offensive support the team needed.  Austin Barnett went two for three with a two-run homer to left and three RBI. Cooper Berger had a pair of doubles and three RBI. Luke Weston had three hits and three runs. Blaine Anderson had three hits, a pair of doubles and a stolen base to go along with an excellent catch in deep center field.

Woodbridge fell to 14-12 overall and 10-9 and remained in third place in the league. Henry Uhrik went three-for-three with a double and two RBI.

The teams play again Wednesday at University and wrap up their league series Thursday at Ryan Lemmon Stadium.

CORONA DEL MAR 2, MARINA 0: The Sea Kings (17-9, 8-3) clinched at least a share of the Sunset Wave League championship with the win. Marcello Anelli pitched a complete game, allowing just one hit and did not walk a batter.

TUSTIN 2, CREAN LUTHERAN 0: The Tillers (14-11, 5-4) clinched third place in the Empire League with a victory at Tustin Tuesday. Nathan Walraven threw a five-hit shutout for the Tillers. “Some key defensive plays behind him really helped,” said Tustin Coach Ben Owens. Raul de la Riva had two hits to lead Tustin. He scored both of the runs for the Tillers in the first inning.

Crean Lutheran (14-13, 3-6) is in fourth place in the league and the Saints could still qualify as an at-large entry in the CIF playoffs.

Tustin plays at Crean Lutheran Thursday.

KENNEDY 5, VALENCIA 0: The Fighting Irish (13-13-1, 3-6) won an Empire League game Tuesday. Tyler Onofre pitched six innings, allowing one hit and striking out eight to earn the win. Austin Nering pitched one inning, allowing no hits and no runs. Anthony Hernandez was 2 for 2 with a double and an RBI, Jonathan Arreola was 1 for 2 with an RBI, and Thomas Pighin 1 for 1.

FOOTHILL 9, EL MODENA 5: The Knights (20-7, 5-3) captured a Crestview League victory Tuesday. Gavin Lauridsen pitched 5 1/3 innings, striking out three. Lauridsen was 4 for 4 with a home run, three runs scored and four RBI, Garrett Davidson was 2 for 3 with a double, run scored, RBI and a stolen base, Tyler Hawkins was 2 for 3 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI, and Brian Harbour was 2 for 3 with an RBI.

VILLA PARK 4, EL DORADO 0: The Spartans (16-11, 4-4) were led by Justin Tims, who pitched a complete game, allowing no runs, four hits and striking out six in the Crestview League game. Nate Lewis was 2 for 3 with a run scored, Zach Mattern 1 for 3 with two RBI and Shawn Romero 2 for 3 with two RBI.

OCEAN VIEW 4, KATELLA 1: The Seahawks (19-7, 9-0) clinched the Golden West League title with the win Tuesday.

BOLSA GRANDE 5, LA QUINTA 4: The Matadors (13-9, 8-6) clinched a CIF playoff berth for the first time since 2001 with a Garden Grove League victory Tuesday.
