Orange County boys basketball highlights, final scores for Monday, Jan. 26

PACIFIC COAST LEAGUE

SAGE HILL 69, UNIVERSITY 57: The Lightning won at home Monday night. Sage Hill (9-15, 3-4) led wire to wire slightly increasing its lead every quarter from up three points after the first quarter to a seven point halftime lead to up 10 points after three periods. University cut the lead to 54-46 with just under five minutes to play, but that’s as close as the Trojans would get.

Senior swingman Tre Cradle led Sage Hill with 20 points, including four breakaway dunks and two and ones. Senior guard/forward Carson Ellis contributed 14 points. Junior wing Robbie Watson had 10 points. Freshman point guard Jaiden McLeod scored 10 points off the bench while junior guard Charles Gomez added nine points.

University (6-17, 2-5) was led again by junior center Abdallah Shami with his 14th double double of the season (24 points, 11 rebounds and three steals). Freshman reserve point guard Dixon Cheng had a career high 17 points and four steals. Sophomore guard Yousuf Chalan chipped in with nine points and four rebounds.

Both teams will compete in the PCL tournament beginning Thursday.

WOODBRIDGE 63, LAGUNA BEACH 34: The Warriors (16-9, 4-3) were led by Jaiden Sabino, who scored 22 points. Garrett DiCostanzao had 14 points, Zac Saleh 12 points and Jahan Adloo eight points for Woodbridge (16-9, 4-3). Woodbridge opens the PCL tournament Thursday although the opponent won’t be known until after a Tuesday game.

IRVINE 76, ST. MARGARET’S 60: The Vaqueros (15-10, 6-1) were led by Evan Terakawa, who had 21 points. Bentley Nguyen had 14 points, Jalen Yim 13 points, Holden Stearns 12 points and Francisco Martinez eight points. Irvine will open the PCL tournament Thursday at 7 p.m. at Irvine.

SOUTH COAST LEAGUE

SAN JUAN HILLS 69, CAPO VALLEY 60: The Stallions (14-11, 4-2) rallied from an 11-point defict to win on senior night and clinch the program’s seventh straight CIF post season berth. Rocco Jensen scored 28 points, 18 in the fourth quarter, to lead the Stallions. Garrett Brehmer added 16 points.

SAN CLEMENTE 62, DANA HILLS 34: San Clemente (15-10, 4-1) was led by Bryan Blake with 17 points and Desi Gutierrez with 13 points.

SUNSET LEAGUE

NEWPORT HARBOR 75, EDISON 70 (OT): The Sailors (16-9, 3-6) were led by Leyton Torribio who made 7 of 8 3-pointers and scored a season high 23 points. Antonio Hatziris had 17 points and four 3-pointers. Owen Saukkola had 14 points and 12 rebounds for Newport Harbor.

NON-LEAGUE

FOOTHILL 81, SADDLEBACK 42: Foothill (7-17) was led by Marlee Slone who had 22 points, 19 rebounds and four steals; Christian Kimlin who had 12 points, eight rebounds and three assists and Damir Buckingham who had 10 points and three assists.
