OC Fury makes it to the Elite 8 of Cooperstown Tournament, winning seven games

The OC Fury youth baseball team out of Irvine had a memorable run, making it to the Elite 8 and taking fifth place in its division in the competition at a tournament at Cooperstown Dreams Park in New York.

The squad, managed by Ryan Wood, went undefeated in pool play and finished 7-1-1.

Top players included Tristan Nguyen and Matthew Chun, who had four home runs each; Kaden Chan, who had three home runs including one grand slam and one walk off home run and Lucas Nguyen, who had two home runs.

Top hitters for average included Lucas Nguyen (.583), Tristan Nguyen (.526) and Zack Stein (.500).

The team’s batting average was .423 with an on base percentage of .505, a slugging percentage of .737 and 17 home runs and 57 RBI.

Top pitchers included Tyler Lew, who had a 3.60 ERA and Bradley Lew, who had a 4.28 ERA.

The team’s pitchers had an ERA of 3.59 and gave up fewer home runs than any other team in the tournament. In addition, OC Fury had a fielding percentage of .955.
