But the Timberwolves could not sustain the effort in the final two quarters and Wilson went on to capture a 66-49 victory at Tustin.
Jason Allen led Wilson (9-6) with a 23-point performance. Jackson Barnhil had 14 points and 18 rebounds for Wilson. Northwood was led by Devon Huang with 10 points and Robert Ross with nine points.
Shandon Sharifi and Amit Flint had eight points each for Northwood.
“The team played a solid first half against Wilson, tied at 24,” said Northwood Coach Tim O’Brien. “The second half, not so good.”
However, in the third quarter, Wilson took charge outscoring Northwood 24-13.
Despite a tough second half, O’Brien is still optimistic.
“We have been inconsistent all year but we have the pieces to get it going for league,” O’Brien said.
Wilson Coach James Boykin said he was pleased that his team could finish 3-1, which was one of his goals.
“This week for us was really good as far as an experience standpoint because we had three close games where we had three two-point games and all of them ended at the buzzer,” he said. “There are some things that we have to clean up.”
