The North-South Challenge, day two, is under way at Tesoro High.
The two-day boys basketball event wraps up on Saturday, Dec. 21, with five games.
The schedule for today:
Laguna Hills 50, Huntington Beach 48: David Moon, who scored 10 points was the game MVP for the Hawks (7-4). Brayden Munger added nine points for Laguna Hlls.
Huntington Beach (4-8) was led by Congly Tu with 15 points.
St. Margaret’s 57, Tustin 38: Will Kenner, who scored 17 points,.was named the game MVP for St. Margaret’s (7-3). Anthony Constanino added 11 points for the Tartans. Tustin (10-3) was led by Ryan Stading with 17 points.
Capo Valley Christian 57, Northwood 53 (overtime): Scotty McDowell, who had 10 points, was named the game MVP for Capo Valley Christian (6-4). Luke Powell had 22 points for the Eagles. Northwood (3-10) was led by Amit Flint with 17 points.
Los Alamitos 59, Dana Hills 44 (Final): Kevin Kent from Los Alamitos was named the MVP after scoring 24 points for the Griffins (8-4). David Olcomendy added 12 points for Los Al.
Tesoro 79, Beckman 52: Matt DeAngelo and Kaden Garrett were named the co-MVPs for Tesoro. DeAngelo had 22 points and Garrett 18 points. Jake Morrison had 10 points for Beckman (6-7). Please check back later for a full report.
Capo Valley 70, La Habra 33 (Third quarter): Langston Redfield, who was named the player of the game, led the Cougars (11-1). Please check back later for a full report.
Highlights from Friday:
Cypress 64, San Juan Hills 57: The Centurions (7-4) were led by Eddie Spencer, who scored 23 points and was named the team’s MVP. Elijah Vaieula led Cypress with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Christian Chai added 12 points.
Cypress battled back from a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to win it.
San Juan Hills (6-9) was led by Adam Weingard with 19 points.
Corona del Mar 61, San Clemente 59: The Sea Kings (8-3) won their North-South Challenge game behind game MVP Mathys Djomby-Enyawe. Jack Stone had 19 points for the Sea Kings. Max Rumph led San Clemente (8-5) with 22 points.
Aliso Niguel 62, Woodbridge 41: The Wolverines (8-5) won the North-South Challenge game behind Trent Griffin, who was the MVP with 15 points. Tyler Weaver had 16 points for Aliso Niguel.
