Matt DeCrona pitched a complete game allowing one run on five hits to lead Corona del Mar’s baseball team to a 6-1 Wave League victory over Laguna Beach Thursday at CdM.
DeCrona (3-2) struck out six.
CDM (12-4, 2-0) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single by Max Lane. Laguna Beach tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the sixth inning.
Ryan Zimmerman had a big RBI double to give CdM the lead in the bottom of the sixth. Blake Butcher belted a two run home run to give the Sea Kings a five-run lead, according to CdM Coach Kevin McCaffrey.
Game three of the series will take place on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Laguna Beach. Â
