Marina High’s baseball team captured a 4-1 victory over El Modena Friday in the Loara Tournament.
Junior pitcher Chad Lux threw a complete game in Marina’s home opener, a a Loara Tournament first round game. The game lasted less than 90 minutes, according to Coach Toby Hess.
Lux scattered five hits, struck out one and did not allow a walk over seven innings.
With Marina tailing 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth, junior left fielder, Trevor Lanksbury hit a three-run homer to left field.
In the fifth inning, David Mashburn, who was 2 for 3, knocked in a run with a two-out single to make it 4-1.
Marina advances to the second round of the Loara Tournament. Weather permitting, they will play again Saturday against Servite.
Beckman 2, Kaiser 0: The Patriots evened their record at 2-2 with a victory i the Chino Hills Tournament. Mick Hyodo had one of the RBI for the Patriots. Tristan Dupont pitched six innings for Beckman.
