Some talented boys basketball teams are in the Grizzly Invitational at Godinez, Loara and Irvine high schools.
Yorba Linda defeated Edison 52-48 in the first game at Godinez. Yorba Linda moves on to meet Capistrano Valley Christian in the semifinals Friday night at 6:15 p.m. at Godinez.
Also tonight, Newport Harbor defeated El Dorado 58-25 in a gold division game.  Villa Park defeated El Toro 91-63 and will face Newport Harbor in the other semifinal Friday at 7:45 p.m. at Godinez.
At Irvine High, Capistrano Valley Christian defeated Northwood 60-43. Shandon Sharifi led Northwood with 20 points. Capo Valley Christian moves into the semifinals to face Yorba Linda.
In a silver division bracket, Dana Hills beat Capo Valley 39-38 at Irvine High. Leading scorers for Dana Hills were Ben Carr (10 points) and Harrison Wiese (15 points).
Conner Gleason (10 points) and Riley McNair (eight points) led Capo Valley.
The 24 teams are grouped into three brackets based on their pool play for their first two games of the tournament, according to tournament director Greg Coombs, the coach at Godinez.
The winning teams move on to the championship semifinals Friday night at 6:15 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. at Godinez. The championship is Saturday, Dec. 1 at 7:45 p.m. at Godinez.
