“The past couple of games we’ve started out slow and had to pick things up as the game has gone along,” said Coach AJ Alaman.
“Senior night is always a special night and to finish 10-0 makes it that much sweeter, on top of that back to back Golden West League champs. This league title marks the first outright Golden West championship in school history, and only the second time we’ve had back to back titles.”
Godinez and Segerstrom were co-champions last year. This year’s title is the seventh league title in school history and the fourth for Coach Alaman and his staff.
“I reminded my players that all the hard work you put in is for times like this, cherish it, it doesn’t happen every year,” Alaman said. “From last March 2023 until October 2023, with a couple of weeks off here and there, these ladies put in the work during the off-season, 6 a.m. workouts three days a week.
“Coaches reminded them constantly what the main goal was, to raise another banner by going 10-0 and make a deep run in the playoffs. We’ve accomplished one goal and can’t wait to start the other goal when the playoffs start next week.
“We have so much support it’s incredible, from; administration, faculty, parents, my coaching staff, our spouses and the fellow student body. We wouldn’t be in the position we are without them, thank you.”
CIF playoff pairings will be announced Sunday
