Former Beckman and UCLA baseball standout shortstop Matt McLain signed with the Cincinnati Reds Monday, according to a report from the Reds on Twitter.
Beckman Coach Kevin Lavalle also confirmed Monday that McLain had signed but did not know the details.
UCLA baseball’s program also put on Twitter a congratulatory note for McLain, who was selected by the Reds in the first round of the Major League draft. McLain was the 17th overall pick in the draft.
OC Sports Zone has reached out to the McLain family and will provide more details when they become available.
