Foothill High officials announced Friday that Yousof Etemadi has been named the new boys varsity basketball coach.
“Yousof most recently was the interim coach and then transitioned to co-head coach at Northwood High School,” said Foothill Athletic Director Doug Case.
“The Timberwolves, under the guidance of Coach Etemadi, finished second in the Pacific Coast League. Northwood athletics has wonderful praise for his work there and are sad to see him leave their program.”
Etemadi replaced Coach Tim O’Brien who was recovering from an illness last season but is expected back to guide the Timberwolves next season.
Etemadi coached at Foothill before taking the Northwood job.
“Since Coach O’Brien is healthy enough to come back full force next season I decided to take the opportunity at Foothill High School,” Etemadi said. “I’m thankful for the experience Coach O’Brien shared with me this past year. I learned a great deal from him about basketball and about player personnel.
“I’m excited to go back to Foothill and have the opportunity to lead the program. I’m looking forward to developing and building the program back into a contender in the Crestview league. Foothill has had a great tradition and with some time and effort we can get the program back on track
“We are very excited to have Coach Etemadi join the Knight family,” Case added. “He brings an enthusiasm and experience that will take our program to the next level.
“We are confident that he will guide our student athletes and teach them the responsibility and dedication that comes with being a Knight. We look forward to the future of our team under Coach Etemadi’s leadership and guidance.”
Foothill was 7-21 overall last season under Zach Johnson, who resigned after the season.
