Former Crean Lutheran High School basketball standout Drew Yezbak signed to play basketball at the University of Hawaii Hilo, according to his uncle Joe Yezbak, assistant coach at Yorba Linda.
Drew Yezbak played at Crean Lutheran, where he graduated from in 2020. He then played a year at Quincy University in Quincy, IL before playing last season at Santiago Canyon College, where he was a first team All-Orange Empire Conference selection.
He averaged 13 points a game overall and made 45.5 percent of his field goal attempts, 41.7 percent of 3-pointers and sank 80.3 percent of his free throws. Yezbak averaged 15 points a game during conference, fourth best in the conference. Yezbak also sank 78 3-pointers overall, third in the conference and ninth in the state and sank 53 3-pointers, best in the conference and second in the state.
“I chose Hawaii Hilo because I felt that It checked every box I was looking for in a school,” Drew Yezbak said Monday. “UH Hilo has a great coaching staff that has a history of winning and they also really believe in my abilities which were two of the biggest things for me. Other than that, Hilo is a great location to live, play basketball and get an education so for me it was a very easy decision.”
Yezbak played three years on the Crean Lutheran varsity team and in his senior season, averaged 17 points and 3.5 assists a game while earning first team all-Empire League honors.
