The fifth annual “Boomer” Ethan Stahl Pool Tournament will be held on Saturday, July 27 at noon at the Goat Hill Tavern in Costa Mesa, according to Harry Stahl, father of Ethan Stahl.
Ethan Stahl, often called “Boomer” by his teammates, played baseball for Uni for four years and was voted the team’s most inspirational player every year. In his senior year, 1995, University won the Pacific Coast League championship and Ethan Stahl was voted all-league first team. He died suddenly on July 4, 2020.
To remember his son, Harry Stahl established an annual inspirational award with a scholarship for a deserving University High School baseball player and has held the pool tournament for family and friends each year.
There is a $10 buy-in for the tournament.
The Goat Hill Tavern is located at 1830 Newport Blvd., Costa Mesa.
