Dominic Freeman has been named the new varsity girls basketball coach at Capistrano Valley Christian High School, school officials said Thursday.
Freeman has been an assistant girls basketball coach and recruiting coordinator at Biola University since 2018.
Before that, he led the girls basketball programs at Valley Christian (2014–2018) and Lakewood High School (2011–2014). Freeman also led Valley Christian to the CIF finals and state playoffs in 2017. Freeman was a two-time Moore League Coach of the Year during his time at Lakewood High.
“We are blessed to have Dominic join the Eagle Family. He will bring a level of energy and enthusiasm that will resonate within the athletic department and help us build a thriving girls’ basketball program,” said CVCS Athletic Director Eric Preszler.
Freeman graduated from Long Beach State in 2008 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology. He competed for two seasons on the men’s basketball team including the 2006-2007 season where the team earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament after capturing the Big West Championship. He was also a two-time all-league player at Long Beach City College.
“I’m very excited about coming to CVCS. I believe it’s going to be a great opportunity to build a competitive girls basketball program and allow myself to continue to work with student athletes and fellow coaches in a positive Christian environment,” Freeman said.
