Western High’s football team, which won the CIF Division 11 title last season, is getting ready for a tough non-league schedule in preparation for Pac-4 League play.
“We have a challenging schedule this coming season, (the) first two road games against talented teams Muir in Pasadena and Huntington Beach,” said Pioneers Coach Dan Davidson.
“Both schools have Division 1 talent and deep rosters. (We) always have the rival game with Anaheim, (which) is always an outstanding experience. Mid season we play Artesia, a CIF finalist and an always well coached and talented team in Garden Grove.
“We have a tough league in Laguna Beach bringing back numerous starters and Ocean View who have so much talent and outstanding coaching staff. This is going to be a challenge for us throughout the year.”
Western defeated Peninsula 49-21 to win its first CIF title last season.
