Cypress’ boys basketball team, which was off last week, got back into action Monday evening with an 82-62 victory over Monrovia at the Buc Pride Tournament at Belllflower High.
Coach Derek Mitchell’s team is the defending tournament champion.
Cypress (8-1) was led by Clifton Patterson Jr., who had 19 points. Jared Brown had 12 points and six assists and Anthony Tello scored 10 points.
Cypress, ranked sixth in Orange County by the Orange County Register, plays on Tuesday vs Hamilton at 6 p.m. at Bellflower High.
