Cypress High pitcher Cameron Repetti said in April in an interview with OC Sports Zone that the Centurions had one goal in mind even before they started their CIF Division 1 playoff run.

Repetti, one of the aces of the Centurions staff, said he wanted the season to “end in a dog pile.”

Well, Cypress, aiming for its third CIF title and first since 2013, is getting close to having a chance for that dog pile.

The No. 2 seeded Centurions hosts La Mirada Tuesday at 3:15 p.m. in one of the CIF Division 1 semifinals and a big crowd is expected at Cypress. The winner of Tuesday’s game moves on to the finals Saturday at Dodger Stadium against the winner of the Huntington Beach vs. Harvard-Westlake game at Harvard-Westlake.

“La Mirada is a very good team that has a lot of pitching depth, plays good defense, and has really swung the bat especially during the playoffs,” said Cypress Coach Weber on Monday.

Fans are encouraged to arrive well before the start of the 3:15 p.m. game.

“We will have additional bleachers and it will be standing room only,” Weber said. “Get there early should be very exciting game.”

La Mirada (26-6) advanced to the semifinals with a 9-2 victory over Mira Costa on Saturday. Cypress (30-3) defeated La Mirada 3-1 in the Loara Tournament in February.
