CYPRESS 56, LA SERNA 52: The Centurions (3-4) bounced back Thursday night with a victory at the Sonora Tournament.
Cypress was led by Jonah Kim with 17 points, Jonas Hanson with 15 points and Mickey Kadowaki and Hayden Roberts with seven points each,
La Serna (5-2) was led by Daniel Anguo with 15 points and Zach Leija with 14 points,.
“Cypress was led by junior, Jonah Kim who controlled the tempo all night,” said Cypress Coach Derek Mitchell. “He led Cypress with 17 points. Jonas Hanson played another solid game contributing with 15 points and eight rebounds.
“Matt Choi came in and was a difference maker for us tonight. His energy and ability to defend and be a player maker was huge for us.”
The Centurions were coming off a 53-52 loss to Colony on Wednesday night. Kim had 17 points, Hanson nine points and Ryan Gov eight points in that tournament game.
FOOTHILL 59, CORONA DEL MAR 47: The Knights won Thursday night at the Beach Bash Tournament. Travis Paleo had 26 points and six rebounds, Isaiah Bernard had 25 points, five rebounds, three blocks and two assists and Adam Gonzalez scored six points to lead Foothill (7-1). The Knights will wrap up the tournament Saturday, facing Newport Harbor at 2 p.m. at CdM.
JSERRA 60, PACIFICA CHRISTIAN 56: The Lions recorded a win at the Beach Bash Tournament to advance into the semifinals Friday at 8 p.m. vs. Edison. Aidan Fowler scored 24 points and Sebastian Rancik added 13 points to lead JSerra (6-0).
Pacifica Christian (5-2) was led by EJ Spillman, who scored 19 points and Salim Semaan, who had 10 points.
YULA 72, TARBUT V’ TORAH 42: The Lions (5-3) lost a non-league game on the road Thursday. Isaac Joelson had 11 points and Yonah Light had 10 points to lead TVT.
