Randall Reynoso, head football coach at Crean Lutheran the last two years, has been named the Chargers’ new football coach, El Toro athletic director Armando Diaz announced on Twitter Monday.

“I am leaving the school on great terms, with the support and help of the administration and Athletic Director Eric Olson,” Reynoso told OC Sports Zone Tuesday. “This is a great place to work and the potential for athletic achievement is real. We were headed in the right direction as a team and as a program, with the first ever freshman team finishing 5-4 last season.

“The senior class has 17 players in 2020, many of whom started and contributed over the past two seasons. Next year will be very promising for the Saints. I will miss the players and the relationships that I have encountered over the years.”

Reynoso had a 7-13 overall record at Crean Lutheran the past two years. The Saints were 3-7 last season and 0-5 in the Empire League. Reynoso takes over for Coach Andy Diaz who resigned at the end of the season. The Chargers were 2-9 overall and 1-3 in the South Coast League last season.

“The transition for me, personally, is an exciting one. El Toro has a well-established football culture and athletic tradition,” Reynoso said. “There is a great opportunity for the Chargers to make some noise in the South Coast League and in the division. I believe my process and passion will ignite the players to get back to the winning ways that El Toro has experienced before.”

Reynoso said he will begin working at El Toro, where he will also be a teacher, on Jan. 27.

Crean Lutheran Athletic Director Eric Olson said no replacement has been made for Reynoso.
