A capacity crowd is expected Friday night at Crean Lutheran for a non-league football showdown between Crean Lutheran and JSerra.
Kick-off is at 7 p.m.
It will be the first football match-up for Crean Lutheran against a Trinity League team, according to Saints Coach Rick Curtis.
“We are excited about tomorrow night’s game, our first game against a Trinity League opponent,” said Curtis. “Our players and coaches have been preparing hard for this opportunity to take on the JSerra Lions.
“It should be an overflow crowd and an exciting game between two of the top 10 teams in Orange County.”
Crean Lutheran is (2-0) is ranked sixth while JSerra (1-1) is ninth in this week’s OC Varsity top 10 poll.
Crean Lutheran is coming off a 31-10 road victory over Mira Costa Friday night.
The Saints led 10-7 at halftime and finished strong by outscoring Mira Costa 14-0 in the fourth quarter.
Quarterback Caden Jones led Crean Lutheran completing 19 of 28 passes for 231 yards and three touchdowns. Crean Lutheran’s leading rushers were Aaron Nicasio (13 carries for 63 yards) and Eden Gamiz (six carries for 63 yards and a touchdown).
Junior Braylen Ross hauled in 10 catches for 141 yards and one touchdwon. Troy Roberts had three catches for 54 yards and two touchdowns.
Senior Ahmeer Williamson led Crean Lutheran defensively with seven solo tackles and three assisted tackles. Mateo Munoz had seven tackles and Evan Mack six tackles.
JSerra, led by first year coach Hardy Nickerson, defeated Long Beach Wilson 63-0 Friday night at home to even its overall record at 1-1.
Senior running back Will Fredericksen got the Lions off to a great start when he scampered 78 yards for a touchdown on the second play of the game, according to a release from JSerra sports information.
Sophomore running back RJ Corley, following a fumble recovery by Bo Argenal, scored on a 2-yard TD run to give JSerra a 14-0 lead.
Senior quarterback Hayes Cloutier had a TD pass to Sam Fredericksen in the first quarter and threw TD passes to senior Grayson Matvay and senior Clark Cokley in the second quarter to put JSerra ahead 35-0.
Corley also scored on a 7-yard TD run and sophomore Jack Hilgenberg hit senior Kai Taylor on a 20-yard TD pass to put JSerra ahead 49-0 at halftime.
