Crean Lutheran High School officials handed out end of the year awards at a breakfast last week.

The award winners were:

Female athlete of the year,  Alexis Ocana: She competed in softball track and field, stunt and cheer. On the track and field team, she competed in the  4x100m CIF team, setting top 10 marks in the long jump and 100-meter run. She battled through injuries and always put her team first.  In the fall, she will head to Texas Christian University.

Male athlete of the year, Thomas St. George: He was a dominant force in four varsity sports. On the football field, he was first team All-Empire League as a lineman, first team All-Irvine, team MVP, and voted as a team captain. On the soccer field, he was first team All-Empire League, team MVP, and a team Captain. In lacrosse, he was the team MVP and team captain. In the fall, he will be heading to Oregon State University.

Male scholar athlete of the year, Aiden Gilbert: He had five AP classes this year and an overall GPA of 4.20.  In basketball, he helped lead the Saints to the Division 2A semifinals as well as to the state playoffs.  He led the team in scoring and assists. He was team captain, first team All-Empire League, team MVP, and was voted to the All-Orange County team. In track and field he sprinted and jumped his way into the record books. With a leap of 21 feet and 11 inches he jumped to a school record list and also was the individual league champion in the 400-meter sprint.

Female scholar athlete of the year, Allison Reed: In track and field she has achieved Top 10 marks in school history for the 800-meter and 1600-meter runs and was a varsity letter earner the past three seasons. She achieved a cumulative GPA of 4.64 all while taking seven total AP classes and earning straight A’s.

Male Spirit of Christ award, Jack Johnson: Johnson’s outstanding athletic accomplishments have had a huge impact in both track and field and football. On the track, no male athlete in Crean Lutheran history has scored more points for his team or had as much success individually in the post season. He earned all CIF honors multiple times including a second place finish last year at CIF finals. In the classroom Johnson has worked hard and earned a stellar 4.53 GPA. But what the coaches at Crean Lutheran are most proud of is his dedication, work ethic, character, and faith in Christ.

Female spirit of Christ award, Molly O’Brien: O’Brien competed in cross country and track and field and was known for her outstanding work ethic. She always pushes herself hard and maintains a smile and is able to have joy and happiness in the midst of a challenge, which officials is also a result of her faith in Christ.
