Crean Lutheran High School’s baseball team opened the season last weekend with victories in the Anaheim Lions Tournament.
The Saints defeated Segerstrom 14-2 in the opener on Friday. Crean Lutheran had 16 hits and senior lefthander Michael Panichi pitched five innings and allowed four hits.
Senior catcher Zach Tittle went 2-for-2 with an RBI single and a two-run triple to pace the offense. Sophomore Mark Fedro went 2-for-2 with a double and a triple.
The Saints then defeated Katella 9-1, with a 15-hit attack. Senior Darin Hahn went 4-for-4 with two doubles and two stolen bases.
Senior catcher Tre Chavez went 3-for-3 with adouble and a triple. Senior lefthander George Manera pitched for four innings and allowed run and at the plate went 2-for-3 at the plate.
Senior Kanon Rabbitt went 2-for-3 and freshman Luke Wilson went 2-for-4.
“Matt Mahoney, Tate Fitzgerald and Connor Grey each threw three up, three down innings in relief,” said Coach Jake Haney.
