Corona del Mar High School baseball star Matt DeCrona has committed to play for Long Beach State next season, according to Sea Kings Coach Kevin McCaffrey.
“Matt will be a pitcher and infielder for us this year.” McCaffrey said. “He will be a three-year starter for us. He played center field his sophomore year and in the infield last year.
“Long Beach State has recruited him as a pitcher. Matt has worked hard on his frame and had developed into a very good pitcher. He has an electric fastball with a great breaking ball.”
DeCrona has been a versatile player for the Sea Kings.
“When Matt is not pitching, he will play in the infield for us,” McCaffrey said. “His foot speed and athleticism make him a special athlete. We are excited to see him in action this year.”
