Century, CdM, Godinez, Sunny Hills and Newport Harbor notch tourney wins

Century’s boys basketball team won its second straight game at the Century Elks Holiday Classic, defeating Valencia 53-40 Friday night at Century.

Rodrigo Ramirez scored 24 points, Eduardo Soto had 10 points and Tyler Thomas eight points to lead the Centurions.

Godinez 54, Katella 43: The Grizzlies won their second round game at the Estancia Coast Classic and will meet Rubidoux in the semifinals on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Sunny Hills 53, Segerstrom 25: The Lancers won their second round pool play game at the Century Elks Tournament to improve their record to 9-7.

Brea Olinda 63, Edison 50: The Wildcats won their second in a row at the Century Elks Tournament. Garrett Brookman had 14 points and Tristan Montera and Dylan Haverson 12 points each.

Corona del Mar 69, Poston Butte 37: CdM notched its second consecutive victory at the Winter Shootout at Cactus High in Arizona, defeating Poston Butte 69-37 on Friday.

Efe Gucoglu led CdM (9-3) with 29 points and five 3-pointers. Jack Stone added 11 points for the Sea Kings.

Newport Harbor 80, Fullerton 32: The Sailors bounced back from Friday’s loss to Century in the Century Elks Tournament with a win on Friday. Ryan Miller had 14 points and Luke Bashore 13 points for the Sailors (12-4).

Peninsula 75, Yorba Linda 58: Peninsula won a second round game at the Century Elks Holiday Classic. Omair Memon scored 11 points to lead Yorba Linda. Connor Platt had eight points.
