CIF boys basketball playoff highlights, final scores for OC teams Wednesday, Feb. 11

SANTA MARGARITA 81, DAMIEN 71: The Eagles (27-3) were led by Kaiden Bailey, who hd 21 points and six rebounds. Jacob Sears had 17 points and four 3-pointers, Rodney Westmoreland 13 points and five rebounds, Markee White 13 points anbd eight rebounds and Brayden Kyman 13 points, eight assists and six rebounds.

CYPRESS 61, SAN GABRIEL ACADEMY 58: The Centurions, coached by Derek Mitchell, won their playoff opener on the road despite losing star guard Ryan Gov with an injury in the third quarter. Gov came back with six minutes remaining in the game and wound up with 15 points. Emmanuel Igbekoyi led Cypress (19-10) with 17 points. Ethan Mai added 10 points.

Cypress will host Rancho Christian Friday at 7 p.m. in the second round.

EL DORADO 74, FOUNTAIN VALLEY 62: The Golden Hawks (26-3) set a school record for wins in a season. Noah Barker led the way with 18 points. Elias Rodarte had 12 points and 10 rebounds, Noah Querubin 11 points and Jack Boettner 10 points. El Dorado will play at Leuzinger in the second round.

WOODBRIDGE 65, LA CANADA 60 (2 OTS): Jaiden Sabino had 30 points, Zacc Saleh 14 points and Jahan Adloo eight points to lead Woodbridge, which will play at Eastside Friday. Woodbridge (20-9) led by 10 points in the fourth quarter before La Canada rallied to send the game into overtime.

DIVISION 5

NORTHWOOD 56, VALLEY TORAH 51: The Timberwolves trailed most of the game before rallying for the home win.

The Timberwolves jumped out to an 8-2 lead midway through the first quarter, but fell behind, 14-13 after the first quarter. Valley Torah opened up a double digit lead in the second quarter before Northwood cut the margin to two before going behind, 27-23 at half.

In the high scoring third quarter, Northwood went on a 17-8 run to lead 40-35. Valley Torah countered with a 10-0 run to take the lead and led 47-41 after three periods.

Northwood held Valley Torah to just one fourth quarter bucket, a late 3-pointer, to win the quarter by a 15-4 margin.

Northwood (13-14) truly did escape with Valley Torah grabbing over 20 offensive rebounds. Valley Torah connected on 11 of 15 free throws for 73 percent while Northwood made nine of 21 at the charity stripe for just 43 percent. Northwood did force 14 turnovers, while only committing 10.

Senior guard Sunghin Eric Wong led the way with 20 points (15 in the second half), four 3-pointers and eight rebounds. Senior guard Sam Alegre had 10 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals. Senior guard Ellis Malang finished with seven points, four rebounds, four assists and four steals.

Valley Torah (21-8) was led by junior guard Meir Dan with a game high 21 points. He was nine for 10 at the line. Junior guard Dvir Assayag Raham scored 12 points.

IRVINE 84, CALVARY BAPTIST 68: The Vaqueros (18-11) were led by Jalen Yim who had 17 points. Evan Terakawa had 15 points, Holden Stearns 13 points and Chase Brito and Franciso Martinez nine points each. Irvine will host San Juan Hills Friday at 7 p.m. in the second round.

SAN JUAN HILLS 84, APPLE VALLEY 67: The Stallions won at home Wednesday. Garrett Brehmer scored 27 points and made four of five 3-pointers, Rocco Jensen had 18 points and Kellen Owens and Cash Harris 11 points each to lead the Stallions, who play at Irvine Friday.
