LA HABRA 5, BISHOP MONTGOMERY 1: The Highlanders baseball team notched a second round CIF Divsion 6 playoff victory Tuesday.
Matt Coats got the win on the mound, striking out eight and allowing one earned run. He did not walk a batter.
Matt Flores was 2 for 3 with a triple, two runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base, Adrian Diaz was 1 for 2 with an RBI and Peyton Lee was 2 for 3 for La Habra (20-10).
ORANGE LUTHERAN 5, MIRA COSTA 1: The Lancers won their second round Division 1 game at Hart Park. MIkey Romero was 3 for 3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Louis Rodriguez recorded six strikeouts over four innings. Orange Lutheran will host Bishop Amat in the quarterfinals Friday at Hart Park.
CYPRESS 4, ML KING 2: The Centurions won at home to advance into the quarterfinal round of the CIF DIvision 1 playoffs Friday. The two teams met in the championship game in 2019 with Cypress winning 2-0. The time and location is to be determined.
LAGUNA HILLS 2, WALNUT 1: Scotty Kato pitched a complete game allowing five hits and striking out eight to lead the Hawks into the quarterfinals Friday vs. Crean Lutheran at home.
“Kato has been fantastic in both of his playoff starts,” said Laguna Hills Coach Drew Hillman. “He gives us a great chance to win every game when he takes the mound. I hope Friday is a great atmosphere with two Orange County teams in the quarterfinals.”
CREAN LUTHERAN 15, ST. ANTHONY OF LONG BEACH 0: The Saints exploded for eight runs in the third inning and seven more in the sixth to advance into the quarterfinal round Friday at Laguna Hills. Laguna Hills defeated Walnut 2-1 on Tuesday. Starter Michael Panichi got the victory for Crean Lutheran. Please click here for a full report.
