CIF baseball playoff pairings have been announced and there are some interesting match-ups in the rugged Division 1.
The opening day Thursday in Division 1 has a match-up of two league champions, Pacific Coast League champion Beckman playing at South Coast League champion Capistrano Valley.
There are some wild card games involving Orange County teams:
Palos Verdes at Segerstrom, Grand Terrace at Fullerton and Northwood at San Juan Hills in Division 3 on Tuesday and Pacifica at Redlands and Santa Margarita at Kaiser in Division 2 on Wednesday.
In opening round games in Division 1, top-seeded Orange Lutheran hosts San Clemente Thursday, No. 2 Cypress hosts Servite, Huntington Beach hosts Moorpark, Foothill hosts West Ranch, Aliso Niguel hosts Chaminade and JSerra is at Mira Costa.
In Division 2, Corona del Mar plays at North Hills League champion Villa Park on Friday.
In Division 3, Katella hosts Paloma Valley Thursday, Ocean View is home against the wild card winner winner between Glenn and West Torrance, Marina is home against the wild card winner between Northwood and San Juan Hills and Capo Valley Christian is home against Yorba Linda.
In Division 4 on Friday, Sonora is home against the Lompoc vs. Ventura wild card winner, Irvine hosts Rancho Alamitos, Loara hosts El Rancho, Kennedy hosts Mayfair and Sunny Hills is at Culver City.
In Division 5, Estancia hosts Savanna on Thursday, Garden Grove plays at Flintridge Prep, Century hosts Arrowhead Christian and La Quinta plays at St. Margaret’s.
In Division 6, Orange hosts Orange Academy of Academic Excellence Friday.
In Division 7, Tarbut V’ Torah hosts Calvary Baptist Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. at Ryan Lemmon Stadium.
Most of the games are scheduled for 3:15 p.m. but can be changed if both teams agree.
