Three Orange County high school girls water polo squads are ranked among the top four teams in the open division of the CIF playoffs that begin this week.
Trinity League champion Orange Lutheran (23-0) is seeded first. Crestview League champion Foothill (21-4) is second and Trinity League runner-up Mater Dei (21-4) is seeded third.
The open division begins with first round matches on Thursday, Feb. 8.
The rest of the divisions open play on Wednesday, Feb. 7. There are six wild card games scheduled in Division 6 and three wild card matches in Division 2 on Tuesday.
In Division 1, Surf League at-large team Corona del Mar (16-11) is seeded first, South Coast League champion San Clemente (20-7) is seeded second and JSerra from the Trinity League is seeded third. Santa Margarita from the Trinity League earned an at-large berth.
Pacific Coast League champion Beckman (22-4) is seeded third in Division 2. Freeway League runner-up Buena Park (20-6) is seeded fourth in Division 3. Fountain Valley from the Wave League and Villa Park from the Crestview League earned at-large berths.
Northwood, the No. 4 team from the Pacific Coast League, is seeded fourth in Division 4, Rosary from the Trinity League, earned an at-large berth.
North Hills League at-large team El Modena (15-11) is seeded No. 1 in Division 6.
The finals will be held on Saturday, Feb. 17 at the Mt. San Antonio College Aquatics Complex.
