Beckman High School’s football closed out non-league play with a 31-0 victory over Woodbridge Thursday night at Tustin.
The Patriots (5-0) dominated the first half, leading 17-0 after Zak Hazboun recovered a fumble at the 2-yard line. Gui DeLuca capped the half with a 30-yard field goal following a holding penalty on Beckman.
Noah Nam led the Patriots with 142 passing yards, completing 15 of 19 passes. The Patriots pulled away further in the third quarter, thanks to two rushing touchdowns by Drexel Gibson. Noah Czaykowski led Beckman with seven receptions for 86 yards.
After the win, Beckman Coach Marcello Giuliano emphasized the need to “keep learning and growing.”
Beckman’s defense stifled Woodbridge, allowing only 130 total yards of offense. Aydrien Garcia was the leading rusher for Woodbridge with 80 yards on the ground.
“I thought our guys fought pretty hard the first couple quarters,” said Woodbridge Coach Aaron Craver. “Overall we got to go into league, get a two week break and start off with a fresh start. Pay attention to details, there’s no detail that’s not important.”
Woodbridge (1-4) plans to use its bye week to recover, as several players battled illness and injuries before facing Portola in league play on Friday, Oct. 4.
Beckman will also take a bye week before starting league play on the road at Fullerton.
