Beckman, Northwood and Irvine each notched Pacific Coast League victories Thursday night to improve their league marks to 2-0.
Beckman defeated Woodbridge 56-39.
Dylan Thoerner had 22 points and made two 3-pointers for the Patriots (10-3, 2-0). Christopher Muller had 11 points and Aaman Soma 10 points and two 3-pointers.
Woodbridge (3-10, 0-2) was led by Luciano Bettus with 11 points, Chris Cooper with seven points and Brandon Clark-Hosler with six points.
“It was a very physical game,” said Beckman Coach John Goins. “Woodbridge did a great job of making it difficult for us to move the ball around cleanly. I told the guys before the game that this would be the most physical game of the season, even more so than the Villa Park or Murrieta Mesa games, and I was right.
“We took a lot of bumps and bruises but were able to execute in the end and stretch out for some breathing room. “
Thoener is now five points short of breaking the all-time school scoring record held by by Michael Yee, Goins said.
Also on Thursday, Northwood defeated Portola 47-37. The Timberwolves (6-7, 2-0) were led by Seth Locke with 13 points, Shandon Sharifi with 12 points and Amit Flint with 10 points. Northwood, the defending PCL champion, has won four games in a row.
Irvine (8-7, 2-0) defeated University 83-73 in the other league game Friday night. The Vaqueros outscored the Trojans 18-13 in the third quarter.
