The annual Alan Dugard Softball Classic featuring some talented Orange County squads begins Saturday with first round games at Colonel Bill Barber Park in Irvine.
The tournament is named after former long-time successul Woodbridge softball coach Alan Dugard.
Teams are grouped into eight three-team pools.
Pool A consists of JSerra, Los Altos and Edison. Pool B includes Palos Verdes, Fountain Valley and Hart; Pool C Mater Dei, Burroughs and Irvine; Pool D Woodbridge, Capistrano Valley and Brea Olinda; Pool E Redondo Union, Rosary and Long Beach Wilson; Pool F; Torrance, Beckman and Vasquez; Pool G Tesoro, Crescenta Valley and North Torrance and Pool H Centennial, West Torrance and San Juan Hills.
Games will be held at Deanna Manning Stadium and the four other fields.
Woodbridge, led by coach Jerry Rose who is also the tournament director, opens the event Saturday at 8:15 a.m. vs. Capistrano Valley at Deanna Manning Stadium.
The Warriors also play Brea Olinda in the stadium at 12:45 p.m.
Capistrano Valley will meet Brea Olinda in the stadium at 10:30 a.m.
Pool play games will continue on Monday, March 23 at 3 p.m., 5:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. with the final scheduled for Saturday, March 28 at 7:15 p.m.
