Villa Park broke open a close game with three runs in the fourth inning and went on to defeat previously undefeated Dana Hills 7-2 Wednesday night in the championship game of the Ryan Lemmon high school baseball series at the Orange County Great Park Stadium.
The Spartans Gavin Grahovac was named tournament MVP. Isaac Ontiveros, who came on to pitch in the third inning, got the win for VIlla Park (5-2). Dana Hills is 9-1.
The 26-team event was sponsored by the Ryan Lemmon Foundation and run by Guy Lemmon and tournament director Dick Owens. Attendance was limited to about 300 and organizers said about 175 turned out.
Fans went through temperature checks to enter the stadium and were asked to wear masks and remain socially distanced. No admission was charged and no concessions were sold.
The rest of the games Wednesday were at local ballparks in Orange County.,
